Sunday 6th March
1pm
at Erst, Ancoats
Printing with Plants, we will learn how to create cyanotypes using plant cuttings and preserved flowers with guidance from multi-disciplinary artist Kat Wood.
Throughout the workshop we will take inspiration from Anna Atkins, an English botanist and photographer and the first person to publish a book illustrated with photographic images. Some cite her as the first woman to create a photograph.
Cyanotype is an early form of photography discovered in 1842, from which the term 'blueprint' is derived. We will be working with preserved plants and foliage to create designs using paper which has been pre-prepared with ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide.
You will create your own unique prints on recycled paper and material to take away with you at the end of the session.
